Call Me Now!

“Call Me Now!” is a toll-free 800 number that seeks to assemble voices of self-identifying black artists working across a variety of media and locations. Conceptually at the intersection of the childhood game telephone, outmoded multi-caller party lines popular in the 80’s, and Occupy Wall Street’s people’s mic, “Call Me Now!” is an opportunity to engage differing communication platforms in an effort to record the voices of black artists working now. The project seeks a cooperative and collaborative network of black artists to connect to one another, especially those without institutional affiliations or beyond so-called artistic centers. It will provide an avenue for underserved artists to declare needs, connect with their immediate communities, and the field at large.
